Early life and acting background

Alejandro David Ramos Alvarez was born on September 3, 1998, in Guatemala, Guatemala, the third child of Lily Alvarez, a bilingual secretary, and Jaime Ramos, an accountant, both of European descend. In 2009, at the age of 11, he started taking drumming lessons at the National Conservatory of Guatemala (Conservatorio Nacional de Guatemala), where he would later learn piano and singing.

 In 2010, he got a role as the co-star in the movie Pol, which premiered in 2014.

In 2017, Alejandro graduated from the national school of dramatic arts (ENAD, for its initials in Spanish), from where he obtained a degree in dramatic arts-focused in acting. During high school, he appeared in several films and theatre plays. Also, he discovered contemporary dance, which immediately caught his attention and enthusiasm to learn. After graduating, he got a job as a dancer in the famous contemporary dance Momentum Troupe which resides at Landivar University, Guatemala. In 2019, he began dancing regularly and acting in different short-films and movies (Ni X ni Y, Guernica, Twilight, Random, El Túnel, El Ojo y El Muro, Transparencia)

 

2011-2014: Career beginnings in acting 

In 2011, Alex debuted co-starring as the best friend of Chlöe Figueroa's character in Rodolfo Espinosa's Pol, a romantic-comedy of two teenagers lost in a huge University, meeting several unique characters to discover themselves and learning some things about love. The film was such a success, it was pre-selected for the Platino Awards, pre-selecting Alex as the best male actor. Alex described this role as a "profession revelation". Alex auditioned to several jobs and in 2014, while attending a scriptwriting workshop, his work got selected for a short film in which he was also chosen for a supporting role.

2015-2017: Artistic studies

In 2015, Alex started attending the national school of dramatic arts (ENAD, for its initials in Spanish), becoming full time invested in the artistic work. During his studies, he was invited to take part in several roles for theatre plays (The Threepenny Opera, La Lumbre de Asturias, Tropelia, La Doncella de Orleans, El Corazón del Espantapájaros, Zipacná Toma Tu Lanza, Don Quijote y Sus Amigos) and different choreographies with the dance Troupe Amadanza. This same year he was cast as the lead role in Maik Mazariegos' Altruista. A fiction short film about a serial killer that disputes with his conscience often. The same year, Alex was cast for a secondary role in Daniela Arguello's 2500KM. A dramatic short film about family violence that forces the wife (Cinthia Vàzquez) to run away from home. Here Alex plays the role of El Gringo, which sells fake passports. This same year, Alex was cast to play two other roles in the films Resonancia and Hunting Party, both as an extra.

In 2016, Alex was cast as the lead role for Cayo Marco's Autopsia de un sueño, a short film that shows different film genres to show an affair. Later that year, he was cast for  Conducta Siniestra and La Decision, where he held the lead role in both productions. In November of 2016, Alex co-founded with Leila Muralles, the artistic group Neljasa, to participate at a contemporary dance festival (Rambla), where they got a scholarship to study in Mexico. The artistic group's name means "4 A" in Finnish, which represents the 4 Arts they manage within that group (Dance, Theatre, Visual and Music)

In 2017, Alex was cast for Rodolfo Espinosa's film Hostal Don Tulio, where he played the son with artistic dreams of a Hostal owner with social, women, and economical deficiencies. The music of the movie was made by Maf E Tula (guitar, voice) and Alex (percussion). This same year, Alex was cast for the thriller El Juego del Muerto.

2018-2020: Acting and Dance

In 2018, Alex started participating in commercials for the Genba company. He was cast as the lead of the short film Lolita, where he played a travesti that was involved with a political family. This same year, Alex was named revelation artist in the acting category for the IPSA (Instituto de Previsiòn social del Artista). He was also cast as extra in Jayro Bustamante's film La Llorona.

In 2019, Alex earned a scholarship to study contemporary dance at Escuela de Circo Bat'z. At a festival organized by the academy, he met Javi del Cid, which was about to start his opera prima. Alex was then cast as a secondary role in Javi del Cid's El Tunel, el Ojo y el Muro. A fiction far ahead in a dystopic world ruled by El Ojo. The same year, Alex was cast to play as a lead in Felonia and Transparencia short films and appeared in the famous Dj Carl Nunes' video clip Don't give it up, playing a younger Carl aiming to become big, but struggling with frustration. This year, Alex experimented with being behind the camera as a producer's assistant in the American produced film Fuego of Arturo Muyshondt. Also as a screenwriter translator for the movie Ba'alche'. In 2019, Alex started working at Momentum, the most famous contemporary dance group in Guatemala, which resides at Landivar University.

In 2020, before the CoVid19 pandemic, Alex was cast as the lead role of the movie Random, directed by Erick Gálvez. A fiction of a girl that enters a comma but appears before his boyfriend using other people's bodies in order to accomplish her last wish. This year, Alex was also cast for the short films Twilight and Guernica
